The US Navy's Human Centrifuge

The Human Centrifuge, at the US Navy's Naval Air Development Center in Johnsville Pennsylvania, was used to study the effects of acceleration on human subjects. It has been used by US Astronauts to train for the g-forces they would experience during space missions.

The Mercury Astronauts were very familiar with this device.
