Introduction

The Hero medal was the name jokingly given by the astronauts to the parabolic mirror worn by several of the astronauts on their chest. The purpose of the mirror was to allow the instrument readings to be recorded by the Astronaut observer camera as a backup to the Instrument observer camera.
