To start out, here are some questions which have been moved from Mercury Spacecraft Modeling as part of reorganizing this site to make the structure clearer.

Here are some things that I *don't* know enough about and would like to know more:

1. What color was the tower jettison motor?
2. How was the window frame colored?
3. What color were the ablation patches on Sigma 7?
4. Was there a transparent cover over the periscope?

Questions we've laid to rest

1. Did Aurora 7 have an earth path indicator? This has been answered and the answer is no.
2. Is the restored Liberty Bell 7's periscope correctly positioned? It seems pretty clear that something went wrong in the restoration.

Site reader questions

A reader recently asked: "What colour is the antenna cover on top of the capsule?- ie the white coloured ring on the black cap at the top. Is this really silver or a white heat reflective coating?

This white ring was called the dielectric window, and was a non-conducting material which allowed electromagnetic waves to pass. It was a translucent white material.
