Spacecraft 9A was the redesignation of Spacecraft 9 when it was reassigned to Project Orbit after the successful MA-5 mission.
Chronology
- 8 August 1962
- Spacecraft 9 (redesignated spacecraft 9A) was phased into the [Project Orbit]] program in preparation for the Mercury extended range or 1-day mission.
- 10 January 1963
- Spacecraft 9 was cycled through Project Orbit Mission Runs 108, 108A, and 108B in the test facilities of the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation.
